City of Burlington Public Art

Project Description:

For the past 11 years, Cobalt Connects has been the lead consultant for the City of Burlington’s public art program. The program takes great pride in offering programs that fund local and international-level commissions through a combination of annual city funding, Section 37 contributions, and private donations.

Highlights include the development and implementation of the Local Artist Program, an annual program that provides local artists professional development opportunities and access to paid commissions. Cobalt also led the Public Art Master Plan Update, which included broad public and stakeholder consultation and resulted in the development of the Community Initiated Public Art and Private Sector Public Art policies.

The collection now comprises more than 70 permanent works throughout the City ranging from community murals and bike racks, to major sculptural and monumental works.
