Exchange is essentially what we're all seeking. Whether thats selling your hand-made crafts at a local market, volunteering for a commuity theatre or having rewarding dialogue with a fellow resident during a community consultation - its all Exchange. This body for work for Cobalt emerged from the simple fact that our building projects brought a collection of amazing people to one space on a daily basis and they all wanted to engage in something. We had to learn the who, what, when, where and why of bringing people together for meaningful experiences.
Over the years this programming has taken countless shapes. We've had a formal incubation centre that taught workshops and career development to artists. We've hosted conferences and big events targeting specific industries or cultural development topics. We have a blog and social media feeds. All of this work is aimed at creating opportunities for artists and community to come together.
Current Exchange programming includes:
- Burlington Local Artist Mural Program
- Queen & Jackson Craft Market
- ArtsBuild Ontario Bricks & Mortar Lectures (Public Engagement component)
- By The Square Foot - Hamilton Creative Space Survey
